I made a similar post about this before the 2024 election, but with the focus on ICE in recent weeks I’ve been thinking about it again
When people talk about how “the border was out of control” “immigration was a disaster under Biden” and how it came up as one of the most important things to voters in polls in 2024 I truly do not understand it.
It reminds me of when I was a kid and just starting to become aware of politics/elections and I heard people being concerned about Health Care as a main issue, and I didn’t connect with why they cared cause I was a kid and just had my parents handle my health care.
But I’m in my 30s now and I still have never once had a time where I’ve had a single concern about “immigration being out of control”. Like it’s not even in my top 10 or w/e issues I care about. So I do not understand why it’s an issue that others care about.
My only two guesses for why that is are: 1) I live in California where I’ve always been surrounded by immigrants and it’s just part of the normal culture here. 2) I’m not an immigrant so maybe some immigrants are salty with rules regarding when new immigrants get to come in
But yeah, I just had to make that rant cause I feel like it’s a constant talking point in the news as if it’s an issue that everyone cares about (making immigration stricter/more orderly) but I feel like a child when they talk about it cause I could give a s*** less about that

What kills me the most are people that are immigrants or a child of immigrants that be hating so much.
Like imagine if Trump was president at the time they came. They would be singing a whole different tune. This is why it's just waste talking to people who only care about themselves. They have no conviction or integrity. Only care about what's best for themselves
