MTG was always the type to do this because she actually believes in concept of "MAGA" and "America First" more than she does Trump as an individual leader. That's the case for more of the Trump voter base that brought him back to power than he might think. His support only works when you combine it

People are making the mistake of thinking that its her who's changed. She firmly still believes in the same principles. Its Trump that's abandoned MAGA/America First and a lot of the base right now feels that way after the last few months.

She understands hedging better than all of Congress. House and Senate Dems have far more reason to do this to their leaders but they stand still like idiots.

What actual policy positions has she shifted on? A lot of this started months ago when she was against Iran strikes. Most of the swing MAGA base is against that stuff. Much of MAGA base has cracked in recent weeks over Trump's stance on H1B, Epstein files, Venezuela and Nigeria war threats, etc... She's just the face of that crack now.

Its strategic in that she's hedging yes and maneuvering around Trump, but there's no actual characteristic shift about her here or change in policy. This is very much MTG. She is loud, abrasive and confrontational
