call me a pessimist but i dont see this epstein stuff going anywhere. outside of justice for the victims themselves, on a political level I can't say I see any immediate consequences of this. the man was elected with some crazy ass charges on his jacket, twice. So this Epstein stuff to me is just a red herring. from my broad knowledge of the case, it potentially involves many key figures from both sides of the political aisle.

if they would've thought this could destroy trump without anybody significant in the democratic party getting caught in the crossfire, i think this stuff would've been out long ago.

these peoples main priority is to make sure no real class warfare breaks out. everything is secondary to that.

No one believed in the severity of his charges because it was clearly timed so that it'd interrupt his election in a blatant act of lawfare. I think Dems and anti-Trumpers are naive about how many Americans and voters saw right through that.

Biden DOJ had 4 years to run investigations charge Trump but his indictments and trials specifically were all timed for election season...sure.

This is why even as he was being charged and arrested, his poll numbers kept rising. Middle line voters saw it as attacking a political opponent, and as a result were more inclined to swing Trump.

The continued interest in this case has lasted 6 years (largely due to republicans) and isn't going to end soon. If it comes to the point a sacrificial lamb is needed, Trump's the obvious target. He's far more legally protected to absorb the blow and worse case scenario is forced to resign or takes a massive political hit, which wouldn't even be a first.

There's no sign they're brushing this off. Trump's team is already being forced into silence and are clearly panicking. When have you ever seen Vance this quiet for instance?

This is a difficult and long game. There's more than enough right now even with Trump and GOP in majority to cause horrible pressure.

If/when Dems regain Congress though, there's he can do to stop hearings, investigations, subpoenas, and a likely impeachment, which opens the door for a Senate trial that televises and investigates this further. Trump can't afford this

The point is to make him politically radioactive and destroy the movement. We're already at a moment where his political endorsement (this used to be his leverage) is meaningless. Even outside of this issue, MAGA base has been displeased at Trump and his own signature economic weapon might overturned by the Supreme Court. Things are very bad now and can/will get worse
