I'm not saying 'What will we do without Harvard or the NYT?', I'm saying that if Trump's White House is to go along with Curtis Yarvin's plan for seizing maximum autocratic power, something that they really seem to be doing, those are the next steps he's outlined, Trump has already threatened to bankrupt universities that are excessively woke

a combination of security state and various bourgeois institutions in particular, together with what might be more abstractly referred to as the deep state, already hold autocratic power over the united states forming what is called a tripartite state. whoever the publicly elected figure might be they will not lose power over their state, nor will they in good conscience give it up

I f***ing hate that people are taking Moldbug seriously now, he’s a f***ing crank who’s worldview boils down to “what if we ran the government like a business” but with more edgy + racist language

He’s a red herring, the people you gotta keep your eye on are the accelerationists, they’re out here shooting people

Not saying I necessarily agree with this, but it's funny how it could be seen as comforting in the same way that 'You'll be dead before the world explodes' is comforting

I dunno man, Vance is a big fan of the guy and has a lot of ideological overlap, I see this presidency more of a case of Trump being puppeted by tech freaks and dark enlightement weirdos than anything

Like Yarvin is obviously a goofball crank, I've known about him for a good while now and considered him a marginal fringe figure whose ideas were obviously too dumb and evil to take hold in the mainstream whatsoever, but when people involved in the highest echelons of the US government see his approach as compelling, that's very very troubling

IMO effective accelerationists pose the greatest threat to humanity of anyone, IF they get their way, but that all relies on them being able to create a magical all-powerful robot, to simplify things, so it's more conditional, nobody seems to be stopping the Butterfly Revolution steamrolling of government that's currently already happening

I honestly think the Canada as 51st state thing is very likely to be at least in part a kind of psyop to sow chaos and instability within the minds of the public, to radically reconfigure what the public imagine is possible in the realm of politics and demoralise opposition by boldly proposing something so on-its-face insane that any President in living memory would be considered a total maniac for, and almost flaunting that things like this won't affect Trump's reputation among his base. They're along for the ride even if he's asking for THIS, how can you ever compete for their loyalty in this new upside-down world that's being created? Each day something hitherto thought impossible is happening, and it doesn't feel good, nothing seems stable, markets are collapsing, this has to, in part, be the point

I mean sure Vance is a big fan of him but what does the result of that look like? Do we try the unitary executive theory again? The dangerous people are guys like miller who are effectively enacting their brutal deportation policies.

The reason Yarvin is around is because he gives people like Vance a philosophy where they feel good about what they were going to try to do anyway.

I don’t wanna split hairs here, I just personally think we’re still spending too much time talking about people with “Dangerous Ideologies” and when you spend time with it you find out they essentially believe everything Newt Gingrich said. Like “oh this is how we become evil” nah man we’ve been evil

So, what, this is just grand performance art while in actuality everything is the same as it ever was?

Quite honestly, wokeness is one of the many things that hurt the Dems in post-Obama years

Obviously the cause was right, but the marketing was horrible when you consider that we live in a country with the Electoral College and 2 Senators per state
