Trump is singlehandedly reversing everything Biden did like it's a cakewalk. Bro is destroying the woke agenda with prejudice. His base probably thinks he's the second coming of Jesus rn.

I gotta say Trump plays to his base way better than any Dem ever did. It feels like Biden was doing the bare minimum, Trump isn't even holding back lmao

All of this is dead on arrival in court, he doesn't have authority on money from congress

The one criticism I had of the school lunch program even when I was in school myself is that the funding for it ensured that there was enough food for the entire school at any given time but you had to be under a certain income to get it free. The funding was there for it anyway and even if your family was $1000 over the payment limit you had to pay ironically for an amount that would likely add up to >$1000 per year. Not sure if this has changed since then but it’s an incredibly stupid and lopsided way to run a govt program aimed at children. I knew lots of kids who “technically” were over the income threshold but only because both parents worked full time and would just drop them off at school early w/o food since both had to work but they wouldn’t benefit from the program because of income levels. Mind boggling this has never been a point of reform afaik

It has been a point of reform cause many states took the best solution which is to just give it to everyone for free

@krishna_bound do you have any thoughts or information on how the spending freeze is going to impact assistance programs like food stamps and rental assistance like section 8?

Or any information or thoughts on the Trump administration's ability to push this through without it getting tied up in Congress, courts etc

I have friends and family members in the states that use and need assistance programs especially the two I mentioned and they're really worried about section 8 since they'd be immediately homeless without it

Could see this as a bold move on their part that they intentionally want sent up to SCOTUS who’ll then put it down…for the most part

Some concessions are made by them that grant Trump more authority than he previously had though.

Look I'm just joking but in the end what did people expect?

It's not surprising at all what is happening. People chose to either vote for Trump or not vote at all for one reason or the other and then are shocked at results as if people weren't saying that Trump is clearly the worst option all year long.

Obviously we shouldn't allow s*** to just happen but all of this could have been avoided

I expected this to cause economic collapse and riots, personally speaking

Donald Trump has fired a senior official at the top US labor watchdog, in effect paralyzing the body until a replacement is confirmed.

Gwynne Wilcox, a member and former chair of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), described her dismissal as "unprecedented and illegal" and pledged to challenge the move.

Though the funding freeze was supposed to take effect at 4 p.m. Central Time Tuesday, Gov. JB Pritzker's office staid that the state of Illinois was shut out of Medicaid as of Tuesday morning. The government-funded health insurance program covered about 3.9 million people in Illinois in 2023, including low-income adults, children, pregnant women and people with disabilities.

Are they actually just bold-faced lying about what would be impacted, or did they legitimately not have any idea the widespread effects of this?

3.9 million people not having access to Medicaid and that’s just in ONE state.
