mmmm although like i guess yea like that album is mine in the same way maybe take care is the weeknds album (its not. hahaha. but i gave a lot of ideas/demos for it that helped paved the way), ian taught me a lotttt making that album. like american boyfriend would probably exist without me on some level, but i dont think id be able to make cat heaven without it hahaha. like to say ian cant do it without people smh… he played the chords on blink!! not me.

Linking back up with Ameer 8 years after he was forced out of BH inherently has to mean one of two things

Either Kevin doesn’t care about these horrible allegations Ameer faced or, more likely

His expulsion from BH was cynical and opportunistic — BH perhaps not even fully believing the allegations themselves — and was simply BH pre emptively protecting its own career by throwing its most talented member under the bus at the behest of Twitter mobs

I’m definetely going to tune in now as I haven’t followed any of these dudes since I was in high school but am I tripping or is Kevin’s reunion with Ameer not extremely cynical

It’s like dude, either you support Ameer’s actions OR you lied on his name protect your own career,, it literally has to be one of those two

I mean is it not possible that there is a third option here where Kevin condemned what Ameer when the events took place, then with Ameer made amends and changed himself for the better and that’s how Kev and him were able to reconnect?

My point is that if you're going to make an official public statement condemning your friend's alleged misconduct (which only ever amounted to "emotional" and "verbal" "abuse" -- it was explicity nonphysical and nonsexual) where you pledge to excommunicate him, and then you reunite, you had to have at one point been being cynical. You sided with the online mobs and contributed to the allegations that you did something so bad that it must be publically condemned. I dont think its relevant whether or not Kevin has truly "made amends" with Ameer because my point is that i dont think Kevin, on a human, personal level, cared about what Ameer may or may not have done, but threw him under the bus simply because the climate of 2018 made that the best professional move.

There's no expiration date on when things stop being morally bad. If you can reunite 8 years later after publicly condemning him, it couldnt have been that bad in the first place. Which is the main thing im hung up on here. I dont care if Ameer and Kevin wanna reunite and make more art together. I think that is amazing and should be encouraged. But when they condemned him in 2018, it wasnt out of sincere belief that Kevin's friend and collaborator had actually done something wrong (or at the very least, that wasn't the driving force behind the statement). That was them saying to Ameer "this mob on twitter is jeopardizing our reputation among our stanbase and squishy reviewers like Fantano and Pitchfork, and the best way to deal with this is publically saying that you're a bad guy who we're done with and do not like"

I am, for some reason, extremely stubborn when it comes to this online moral outrage scoreboard stuff and recognize its kinda OD. Again, this is all up to Ameer, but to me, if Kevin gets away with cynically s***ting on Ameer and then reuniting with him to make more music WITHOUT EVER ADMITTING TO HAVING BEEN CYNICAL... its just not fair. Kevin gets his cake and eats it too while Ameer's absolution is still only implicit, despite that statement of condemnation being quite explicit.
