I don't believe this particular story about TDE but I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being true. That label has had issues for years but no one ever wants to talk about it.
I wonder what this Kendrick album will sound like
mans really one of the only rappers where you have no idea what the next album gonna sound like
s*** exciting asf
Birdman doesn't own Drake's back catalog, Universal does.
I don’t think Birdman owns it. We don’t know the exact business but he obviously has business in those records released under CM

He probably got a cut while Drake was still under contract with CM but doesn't anymore. He will keep trying to make it seem like he's making money from Drake and he'll keep associating himself with Drake but I doubt he's seeing any money from Drake anymore. Same with Wayne. He isn't seeing any money from Drake either.
Someone broke down CM's deal with Universal a while back and they explained it all really well. If they're to be believed, Universal gave CM a s*** ton of money for budgets but retained ownership of the masters of the artists they signed. I believe that's how it was set up.
@quadra gotta call up a therapist or something.
this thread had nothing to do with Drake

Some nigga I spoke to on a video game forum a couple months ago (right after the oklama letter) says he heard from an A&R that Kendrick was originally shopping this album around to other labels (for distribution?) but decided to let TDE have it as a parting gift. Keep in mind this guy barely knew Kendrick or gave af about hiphop like that so I don’t see why he’d lie and make that story up.
Knowing how s*** of a label TDE is there’s a good chance Kendrick doesn’t want this album to be completely tied to TDE and have them keep the masters/royalties even after he leaves, especially when he’s releasing this album under them as a favor. There’s a good chance this tweet could be true
Best talent scouts in the 21st century of music, worst organized label of all time
