I can tell you don’t understand and that’s fair. Do you know what the acronym T.H.U.G L.I.F.E, coined by his biggest influence who many people consider a big time gangsta, means and why Kendrick has lived that life?

So in the end none of them are actually bout that life. got it.

It reflects in his musical sense as well. Cole has never made an attempt to confront the status quo or what hiphop “should” sound and look like - not vocally, rhythmically, lyrically or production wise. This absolute aversion to confrontation is both a disservice to Cole’s immense skill and a ceiling on him ever being the generational legends that Drake and Kendrick have shown themselves to be throughout culture not just rap

    Perfectly said

i mean, im not saying it's not a good and impressive thing to have, but that's literally the argument you are going to use to decide who is the greatest rapper of his generation? thats sounds absurd to me

it should be strictly about music imo

It is, but the Drake stans bring sales into the discussion to validate Drake, so therefore the Pulitzer argument is valid

Drake stans literally have zero argument as to why he’s better than Kendrick that doesn’t center around sales or stats

My nigga, talk! KOD was in part a condescending take on trap, imagine if kendrick made kod and applied himself to it instead of grandstanding like Jermaine did, he's such a fine rapper ey pause, he's basic

on the other hand, Kendrick's music is great, Im legit baffled by some people's need to turn him into a sort of messianic prophetic figure to elevate it, when the music can speak for itself

So in the end none of them are actually bout that life. got it.

he is a reflection of how society treated him, in their eyes and many who live that life, a thug is someone thats from the hood and righteous, someone that would take care of the community by any means.

You associating being gangsta with being in a gang shows you shouldn’t even be engaging in this conversation since you haven’t done your due diligence to understand anything about that life

So you are allowed to flex a thing because Kendrick is the only one to ever do it, but if we post sales records Drake is the only one to ever do it doesn’t count

    Makes sense

Kendrick has sales too if you wanna go there, yall are not dealing with pusha or meek, get that through your thick skulls

The main argument against Kendrick for Drake stans is that Mr. Morale was a flop and he disappeared for 4 years while Drake remained at the top. None of this has anything to do with music
