Ok, I will break it down for you because youre the one who isnt grasping something. Just because he was planning an adidas line, with his son’s name, the burden of proof to make sure it was his wasnt met to the point of publicly announcing it. He was certain enough that he set the gears in motions to promote it, but not certain enough to not wait for more verification before actually doing it. You can think he lied, nobody actually knows. But that’s what I think.

If Kendrick loses, I think his reputation will largely remain in tact. He's got a cult like fanbase, Drake haters, and “real” hiphopheads backing him up.
Drake isn't afforded the same benefit. Push Ups was a solid diss, yet you’ve got people on Twitter talking about “Kendrick!! Call him a pedophile on wax and I’m all yours!!” A lot of people just want to see him lose.
If Drake loses, as in, if Kendrick drops a nuke on him that he can't recover from. That’s it. It’s ggs. I’m not saying his careers over at all but his credibility in rap will be cooked. He can't take another Adidon.
Think about Cole. His reputation is in the dirt now, and he was generally beloved or at least well liked among the general public before all this. Now he's a punchline. I haven't seen a rapper's reputation get tarnished so fast since Chance.
This goes to show the stakes are a lot higher. Drake isn’t beefing with someone like Pusha T or Meek, rappers who are arguably lower on the food chain when it comes to strictly popularity. He's beefing with someone on equal footing in terms of critical acclaim and popularity.
We’re talking big 3. Legacy s*** right here. This moment we talking bout will be the climax in the documentary being aired 30 years from now.
Again if Kendrick loses he still has GKMC and TPAB as feathers in his cap. It’ll be a blemish for sure but most people, me included, will be willing to make excuses for him and say he’s never been battle tested before to explain why he lost.
Just a matter of perspective I guess, I think you’re letting your personal reaction define what the larger reaction will be though. Drake’s a “pop star” at the end of the day, he might lose respect on here and with likeminded people but respect isn’t why “the masses” were listening to Rich Baby Daddy.
They both have their classic projects as feathers but Kendrick hasn’t had a proper beef and has looked untouchable for years, I really think losing that status is a bigger deal for him than another L is for Drake.
