What makes it worse for him is that he's really cool with the two guys who is on top.
Cole is just not built for being #1.
If you're actively trying to be #1 in a field, it's hard to be friends with guys that's above you. It can lead to conflicting feelings.You either lose the friendships and feel like s*** or you keep the friendships and have peace. Cole chose peace.

BRAVEI do that’s why it’s more insulting that anyone would suggest Cole’s dry flow comes close to the dynamic flow of Kendrick on Like That
Let’s not get into the delivery, the pitch, the phrasing, the enunciation, the structure of rhythmic figures, internal rhymes, ACTUAL wordplay…come on man lmao
I feel like what’s “dry” for Cole would be vocal tone. I’d argue his flow itself (the rhythms of course) is more dynamic than something like Like That. I find that flow simpler than most of the flows on the new Cole.
My original comments on Cole’s flow was, I was impressed at how well he flowed over the 3/4 beat on Trae Tha Truth I thought it was very natural in a way that not all rap songs in 3/4 are
One more thing, I take points off “flow” if every bar is punched in and in a different voice. That kind of almost negates the whole original concept of flow as pioneered by Rakim. Cole FLOWING, Kendrick can but I’m not impressed by Like That, as a flow historian
And yes, let’s not get into all that other stuff. Let’s keep it to the flows
