Listening to Kendrick Lamar gives me a full insight on what it’s like to be a black man in America and I almost feel as if I’m living vicariously through him by allowing him into my home and tell his insightful stories and the trauma and systematic oppression he is faced with on a day to day basis. The pain and emotion reflected through his music is reflected in the everyday experience of black people. Therefore, when I listen to Kendrick, I feel as if I’m getting racially profiled with him. I am also going through the inner city of Compton, California and ducking the Bloods and Crips to see my home boys after school. I also am getting hated by the po-po. I believe I should be entitled to say the n-word because I too am facing the hundred years of oppression and racial profiling with Kendrick.
