OK @SegaDreamFlash so believe me when I say you haven't lived till you ve heard his rendition of lion kings can you feel the love tonight
ditto hotel California, where he and the instrumental go to war over who can b******ize the original harder
That said, the fact that over 250k households have or have had his cd in them strictly to laugh at his off key and highly stereotypically asian accented vocals is in fact INSANE. You know what else is? Look what they called his Christmas album

a Christmas album???
I was talkin bout this with somebody on here but this is how I feel @AvenueJones @Sk8brdKee @edumist I even argue that a good chunk of his debut tape don't even sound that houston outside of a couple songs

Which is also my argument for everybody believing Hip-Hop started in NY, when NY is really just a hotspot for many different cultures and densely populated

This comment from ASAP Yams OG sums it up well @AvenueJones @edumist @Sk8brdKee

They’ll eventually say something racist and get perma’d. Just let them do their thing.
Wild how drake’s fan base went racist
How f***ing dumb you gotta be, to be getting life changing money/experiences and all you gotta do is hold a camera and you STILL fumble it

This is true. I remember when Kendrick came out niggas thought he wasn’t west coast enough but those OGs still embraced him.

Is this even true?
Its been 12 years so my memory is probably not there and im not gonna look it up but didnt Asap get love from Rakim, Wu Tang members etc pretty early

It’s true to an extent. I think Wu showed some love cuz of his clear ODB homage but then I remember Dipset members like Juelz Santana saying his style isn’t Harlem

Yea Dot had heavy experimentation on his projects I lowkey remember some people saying he sold out with GKMC

Yeah but Jim Jones was also pretty early with the asap cosign and Rocky was supposed to be on one of juelz albums early too.
Its all semantics theres examples of both but I think Rocky was largely accepted by most of the major NY guys.

I mean I can't blame NY niggas for not embracing A$AP the same way as other niggas back then or at least Pop Smoke now, because mostly I'm a heavy old head living a young man's body.
But I feel like Rocky embracing the H-Town influences helped gain him the appeal he needed to have in order to blow up, so I can't really hate too much

I honestly feel this was the way that Tyler felt as well when he came out.
the other part is Rocky is so new york lol
like regardless of what his music sounds//sounded like or even how they dressed, once you meet him its like oh yeah nah hes new york

Nah NY niggas stay doing that dumb s*** over here bro
Kendrick came out rapping like Andre 3000 and Lil Wayne and look where he at now

Tbh, I can't really hate on NY, because that classic old-school boombap s*** is my favorite type of hip-hop.
Westside is dope, but I feel like with him, he needs to try more classic melodic NY hip-hop beats.

Lowkey not reallly though.
If you think about it Nas, Jay, 50 a lot of dudes were doing their own thing during his big come up. Compare that to how Snoop and them was embracing Kendrick around the Section80 era
