Yeah the creator of hajime no ippo said something similar and it's so true. Like Witcher cowboy bebop the last 2 seasons of thrones. These mf's just won't learn and keep tryna force feed stories nobody wanted to read in the first place lmaoo. Season 6 of thrones was f***ing amazing becausne it was from the winds of winter excerpts Martin releases. Battle of the b******s was the best thing they did cuz they are actually good at doing battle scenes (Martin himself doesn't really write out battle scenes at all in the books).

And look what they did to Star Wars with that acolyte garbage? 🤢

It's like enough it enough man. Even marvel realized it needed to get back to basics with Wolverine Deadpool lmao. Give us the stories we want!

This really might be the last gasp of Hip-Hop culture. I'm not trying to be a doomer, but the Drill "rappers" and younger generation aren't even into rap like that. It might be a wrap.

Whatever side you preferred in the beef, no one can deny that Kendricks and Drakes dont just spawn out of nowhere. The culture and tradition their respective artistries was born out of is gone.

For the first time in rap history there’s a single rapper who’s the vanguard of the entire genre. We can debate on whether or not Kendrick “deserves” it but as excited as I am for new music from him, the gap between him and the rest of the current crop of rappers is so huge and it makes clear just how empty “the rap game” is rn.

Then again, the less pessimistic take is that pre-digital music industry, where geography and physical sales were more important, was more conducive to beef, and that the atomized streaming model incentives neutrality and actually punishes the aggressive attitude that drove beef before.

It’s interesting because I wanna give some younger artists their credit but I also can’t see them as a Kendrick or Drake in the future either if that makes sense. And I don’t mean literally, I just mean I don’t see anyone becoming that level of stardom/influence in rap. It just feels stale if you don’t include Kendrick, Cole, Drake and maybe a select few others in the conversation. I can’t tell if that’s just me getting older or people outgrowing the genre itself lol.

Say what you will about Drake but he knows rap. Kendrick obviously does to. They grew up on that s*** and you can hear it in their music. The only thing these drill kids know is the drill rapper that came before them.

These new kids don’t even fully understand the post-Thug/Carti/Future context they exist in bc if they did… their music wouldn’t suck lol
