Not all Black people have the same experience, which I'm sure you know but this could be a teachable moment to passer byes, and/or backgrounds so it's important to have distinctions from continental Africans or other African cultures that didn't endure American colonialism.
This is true, which is why tribal distinctions come first in Africa to set apart who's from where, even within the same country, but as black people, we are also bound by the history of colonialism and its effects, whether it was the British or the French wilding and pillaging.
Aye, what's up with your birth certificate situation tho lol
That's the biggest difference, those colonial powers aren't nearly the same as the American empire and determining on your belief, the original American separated themselves from Continental Africans well over 40 generations ago. Think about it, I'm in a country that I can say my family didn't immigrate to for at least 8 generations paternally and most likely far longer maternally. There's no way I can say that I'm from Africa in any way. I don't have inherit knowledge of the culture because everything was rewritten through a difference of environment and trauma.
The birth certificate stuff is a product of Walter Plecker, and I'm sure many other white eugenicists beliefs that helped reclassify American Indians to colored people (which is the embedded reason Tyla getting a lot of s*** here for her "race")

Who knows. All his gimmicks have to do with pretending to be something/someone he’s not so I don’t really believe him lol

I hear you. That multiple-generation gap and difference in environment does have an effect on our experiences, but to what extent though? Because history is history. The transatlantic slave trade is canon, regardless of one's ability to trace back to their roots. Personally, I agree that there is a vast difference in experiences, but I can't be mad at someone who wants to know where exactly they're from

I would like visible likes
Dislikes too, but I understand
