Ab-Soul just doesn’t have songs like that, that would’ve really worked in that setting. Jay Rock and Q did, which is why they got to perform a couple.
It was a bump up from a couple bad projects to something mediocre IMO. But I will say he definitely tightened up the writing and dropped most of the cringey "deep" bars, which was half the battle.
I still have faith he can bounce back I'm just being a hater because his career arc is frustrating IMO lol
