thats real I been through therapy some it helps me to a large degree I think I wish they would have played even harder into the theme because some didnt fully grasp it even if it was blatant

You should relisten soon, look at the lyrics and watch the music videos because they’re heavily tied in to the album themes

I respect your taste, everybody has its own way to listen, understand and vibe to the music. But for me, Take Care is Drake's magnum opus. Comercially, I don't know, I don't care about numbers, sales, etc. But musically, Take Care is a real masterpiece, Drake's best album, and one of the GOAT albums at all

I feel ya. Only ''criticism'' I have about it is that it does sound a bit outdated which I don't feel about NWTS. But that's not important for me when discussing or rating albums. Albums are products of their time and I don't think they need to transcend it

Bro, I gotta a serious question for you..
Would you tell me what you like in Carti? This is the most meaningless, weak and s***ty rapper of all time, he aint even a rapper, this is some crossover between human and alien.. and he sounds like someone is killing a pig.. what the hell you find in him

What I see in Carti he’s the first and greatest post-rap rapper

From early on he saw that in mainstream rap, the lyrical aspect of rap was heading towards irrelevancy, and that the technical ability, the part that enhances the production and contributes to the greater vibe, was becoming more prevalent. He doubled down on this to the point where his use of his voice was more of a compliment to the production than a vehicle to “say” something. I always took his role in music as more of an executive producer/curator/late Kanye type figure.

One of his new songs, 2024, is like the pinnacle of this. The priority isn’t to bar out. It isn’t even to necessarily “go hard”. It’s simply to sound pleasing on quality production and get stuck in your head, sort of like what dance/electronic producers set out to do. He is very explicitly not interested in the traditions or standards of “rap”, and his vision for this is clear, which is why I said he’s the blueprint for a “post rapper”. And in my opinion thats very interesting and I think his music is dope. But I can understand why someone who doesn’t care about that would be unenthused by his music. I personally think the single packs he dropped last winter are some of his finest works to date and that he’s only getting better. When you look as a producer, sort of like a Rick Rubin type figure, and NOT as a rapper (and again I understand some ppl may take issue with this philosophy, but Carti has never said he wanted to be a great rapper, or compared himself to any lyrical legends like that) he’s actually an incredibly progressive musical figure, pushing the sound in directions we haven’t seen before. He’s one my favorites of all time and if any of what I said made sense id implore you to check out his new s***.

    I would love it

Kendrick hasn’t really had a west coast Hip-Hop album since GKMC, although TPAB/DAMN/MORALE all have songs with west coast influence.

I got your point. In my ears, 2013 was when hip hop/rap blended more with the trap and NWTS was that Drake's sound transition to the more trappy sound

Yeah it’s tough as hell, he’s just got so many good songs.

The bad songs of his I could count on 1 hand

Hell yeah. Of the top of the head, I’d probably go something like:

    Sing About Me
    FEEL.
    Count Me Out
    You Ain’t Gotta Lie
    untitled 02

Honorable mention would probably be Blow My High. And beef aside, Euphoria is so crazy it’s already up there for me.
