Cry baby lenny
were you talking about it? yes or no
also cant be a problem if she dismissed it. yall dismissing her truths is weird, i thought we were to believe victims
Yes because it is relevant.
Drake got called a pedo on a global scale by an extremely credible individual.
Should people just ignore it or what?
This has been on streaming. It’s on Untitled Unmastered. You mean the live version?
I didn't hear that album but I did skim through it thinking it was on there back in the day but probably skipped it because the beat is different from the live version.
Live version is immaculate

He got banned with the swiftness
Ok so I’m going to give my thoughts here which I have been pretty reserved about sorry for the lengthy reply… I believe this kind of topic is exactly what this beef evolved into.
Drake vs Kendrick became a divide of ideals.. what is appropriating Black American Culture vs what is not? Drakes been doing this at a high level for many years up to this point which makes this a very loaded question because it’s been “accepted” until all of the sudden… its not.. (speaking from a POV of drake stans), but that’s not entirely true. Drakes been catching flack for this for years. Especially with the release of More Life.. is he actually this talented? Or is he just playing chameleon really well? Does he even write some of this stuff??
Drake fans have the POV (generally speaking here) that Drake’s dad is from Memphis, drake spent time in America growing up, Drake was accepted early on and helped many artists with opportunities they never would’ve had otherwise. Gave migos one of his best feature verses ever, etc. the examples would call for a long list..
Kendrick fans and really hip hop purists in general see it (again generally speaking) as Drake grew up in a decent neighborhood from Canada, uses 15 different accents, doesn’t write his own rhymes/reference tracks even for a song like Mob Ties?!, has to soul search for the youth by painting his nails and linking up with a new streamer each week, stake deals and gambling more money than most would ever dream of having 1% of, etc.
On top of that you sprinkle in serious allegations from both sides (pedophila and dv) things are bound to get extremely messy and opinionated.
The answer, at least in my opinion, is that there is truly no right answer here. People are going to believe what they want and accept what they want just like when drake won against meek but the conversation remained… is having ghostwriters OK? And drakes core fanbase clearly said yes or they didn’t care because everyone moved on for a while…
but the question loomed and it festered until it reach a tipping point paired with all the aforementioned examples provided and, in the grand scheme of things, I believe this beef will dictate the new set of “unwritten” ground rules for the next 15 years of what is deemed “acceptable” vs what isn’t until another clash of titans in hip hop.
These posts are tough because I never want to inadvertently categorize someone that they aren’t. Some drake stans/fans and Kendrick stans/fans have differing views and there’s a ton of nuance to be applied..
Maybe Kendrick is what the culture is feeling. Maybe Drakes run is over… time will tell all..
Migos would have boomed without him . Rihanna gave him hits.
Most of this is very well written though.
The issue with Drake isnt just black culture its implied relation to black gang culture and the violence of black america. Going to different regions and finding the more violent rappers from Thug, 21, Durk, Migos and more then using them to create a darker image for himself outside of Hotline Bling and dancing for the craquers.
Because he no longer just wanted to be wheelchair jimmy from degrassi
If he was just appreciating the cultures without trying to evoke the dark violence that many of us in the black community arent glorifying it would be a different tale
Same as his depiction of the hyper sexualization from Get Free to Sexy Redd use
Then you get into the allegations and the hanging out with younger woman, old videos of him saying "speak proper" and original film where he was a caricature of a black rapper
there is the question of if his entire career is performance art or being a caricature of a black person. yes his dad is black. S*** Obama is Black but once you are entrenched in enough white neighborhoods without truly living in other areas or truly helping their people it will have you performing Knife Talk for Travis Scott all ages show in Houston
TONE DEAF s***
@sab Another one. This is really sad.
nah I wasn’t.
I’m just finding it funny how little yall understand about Toronto and want American conceptions of blackness to predominate the discourse.
Kenny played a dirty game with this diaspora war and yall are pawns in it.
Kendrick’s issue has been solely with Drake (and his crew). It’s the public that championed this moment or atleast attempted to and turn this into a diaspora war. If you want to engage in that by all means go ahead.
