Look we gotta talk about this whole “culture” nonsense thats happening right now. It’s code for the new “woke” and it’s inconsistent.

A lot of this is a new BLM derivative black movement to pull genealogy reports. I’m black and even I’m noticing how slippery this whole convo is. Thats how you get Joe Budden talking like all of sudden drake isn’t black enough to participate in american rap. OK…then we’re getting UK rap outta here too, then. Is this a street thing? Or a diaspora thing? Or a poverty thing? What is it? Is this anticapitalist? Antiimperialist? Socialist? Pro underdog and victimhood? What’s “the culture” right now?

Thats how you get a half black half jewish mother like EBRO at Hot 97 gatekeeping black culture to hide the fact he’s the same as Drake. He’s trying to dodge that same investigation so he attacks drake to draw fire from his own perceived inability to participate in “the culture”

Its a nasty game being played.

Again, I’m confused why they’re letting some of these kids of these rappers to have careers if its all about “culture”

T.I., Rev Run, Will Smith, Diddy’s etc sons grew up more privileged than Drake yet they’re in “the culture”. Is Big Sean in “the culture?” Wale?

If you grew up black and middle class, are you in the Culture?

There is a weird victim mental illness going on right now where people are making this into some black movement of solidarity.

I did when I did NSBE mentorship in Jacksonville and when I volunteered with the girls coding camp when I went to FIU

Outside of that, I don’t think anyone is gonna tell you that drake texting Millie isn’t sus

I think a lot of people who share this sentiment either don't understand or are blatantly missing the point. Nobody cares that Drake is half black. Plenty of rappers are.

The issue is when he code switches. He uses these slang words and accents like costumes and doesn't actually respect the culture. Him hoarding hip-hop memorabilia also isn't a good look in the context of everything else

There’s literally nothing wrong with this. The guy is paying homage to different parts of the diaspora. Busta rhymes is using this exaggerated patois as of this last weekend and you don’t bat an eye
