Honestly, I'm not even a huge fan of X's music but I understand why he got there.
He had a unique aesthetic, with a diverse style, angsty enough for the tumblr kids but had bangers for the niggas that just wanted to mosh. Then you just mix in him being a controversy magnet and it makes sense
