Here are my honest thoughts on the beef
There's a whole generation of kids who right now are identifying with him as the "Not Like Us" guy, mostly because that's his most visible song in the last 7 years. The content of the song, the fact that it directly involved Drake and the fact that it'll likely end up as his biggest hit record ever are a combination of things he'll eventually come to resent. He'll go on having fans who keep demanding he performs the song at shows long after the lustre of it wears off.
For all the talk about Back to Back, the one thing Drake has always understood with all his rap beefs is to never make them a bigger moment than they needed to be. The same day he put Back to Back/Charged Up on DSPs was the same day Hotline Bling went up on DSPs. He knew not to let Back to Back be his big summer moment, even though the call in his beef with Meek was that he won. By August/September, Hotline Bling is a massive hit record, late September, he drops WATTBA and October, drops the music video for Hotline Bling, which made the song a cultural staple. All those moves, including Work with Rihanna being a massive hit led to Views being the massive era it was. He knew that career music — not rap beef music — was the momentum he needed to ride into the release of Views.
Kendrick's mistake is trying to lead an entire campaign into his next album on the momentum of Drake hate. I might end up being wrong but for as long as I've understood it, people showing you love/support mostly because of the disdain they have for someone else, will never be sustainable. I don't know why people seem to think that everyone who supported Kendrick's diss tracks as a way to s*** on Drake will automatically show up and support his next album.
Kendrick's mistake is trying to lead an entire campaign into his next album on the momentum of Drake hate.
Or… he realizes he caught a generationally huge record that ended up becoming an anthem for the West Coast and he’s letting the success of it ride instead of starting promotion for a new album that will be overshadowed by what is now the biggest rap beef of all time.
Back to Back was huge, yes, but it never transcended the beef. There is no context to that song other than “Drake firing at Meek.” On the other hand, Not Like Us has literally become an anthem for the entire West Coast and for black culture in general.
This is not Drake vs. Meek. This is not two rappers dropping a song together and then a week afterwards one of them starts a beef by putting out a tweet.
This is the two most important rappers of their generation finally squaring off after a decade of hostile energy between them.
Social media has fried y’all brains into thinking that everyone is just supposed to move on to the next thing when Not Like Us is literally only two months old
I love Damn but DNA and Humble bottom 2 on that album
Humble? Sure
DNA? No way that beat switch is an all timer
GOD is in my bottom 2, I never really liked that song.
1 hour ago: Drake stans made Whitney delete her IG
Now: she never deleted it she just blocked jared
which one is it? yall never fact check the bullshit tweet u guys share?
This is the dumbest take you could get from this man
You could just say it’s Pathetif that Sophie or witness are harassed by fans
Listening to Tems debut album and she do be having this syndrome of rhyming '-ation' type words on different songs too. It's not that noticeable cuz the music itself is good and those moments are spread out
Back when she said "you don't need no other body" I knew she sacrificed English language syntax for rhyming sake.
S***s crazy. That whole scheme at the beginning of Hovi Baby about David and Goliath is so Lupe it’s crazy
It’s blatant and jay z faked him out at Atlantic
Yessir
You never know on here
I remember a nigga said tpab was great but had a couple skips they asked him what songs and the nigga said Momma and These Walls and was being dead serious
who gives a f*** about that zionist b****
Still don’t believe it but when I saw him in Chicago he really did swap out Gaza Strip line in show goes on
Need kendrick to put Kanye away too
I feel like on the surface it makes sense but he probably sees a lot more authenticity and humility in Ye’s struggles with mental and spiritual health, where these may stem from culturally, and his many attempts to self reflect and change.
See, Mr. Morale and The Big Steppers
Ye in all his flaws still seems a bit more integrated than Drake does or at least the image he presents. I don’t know that man and out of fairness I dont want to speak on his personality too much but what is presented through the art, aint it, at least to some people.

I don’t think he likes getting at people he views as troubled
