Sales and commercial dominance have and will always be a part of the conversation
There is a difference imo. Back then, sales were more highlighted when something interesting happened like Wayne selling 1 Million first week or Ye selling more than 50. Or the meme with Thug because he consistently sold under 30k.
The focus on sales has gotten too much in recent years. Now it has turned into a weekly obsession with people tracking every percentage drop and point artists gain every week. Making charts and s***. Artists like Cardi have started to be scared to drop because they know they will get mocked online if they sell below expectations.
