Idk if the Scorpion rollout will work in light of this battle outcome tbh but that strategy was perfect.

A part of what made the Scorpion rollout, following the Pusha beef such a success, was how he played with the singles. God's Plan was kind of a self-love/self assurance type record. One of his most universally beloved joints because of the motivational angle. Then he targeted the women with Nice For What + In My Feelings. He had the demographics on lock with that.

It's much harder to pull that off when your every move is now under a microscope and all your past joints for the ladies are being re-reviewed with a different lens, not to mention that Drake has grown very bitter in his lyrics lately, going as far as antagonizing industry peers like Meg Thee Stallion.

He's still Drake, still has ovo diehards, but a God's Plan type record is much needed rn.

The Pusha beef is a footnote compared to what we’re seeing now. Unless you were a consistent follower of rap you probably didn’t even know about the Pusha T beef and even if you did you thought it was kind of weird at the absolute worst.

I’d say Drake winning it because Kendrick over cooked his lyrics, too preachy/beating around the bush. Basically Kendrick making disses similar to that one shot ai song. I remember I panicked when I thought it was real

    Me and you both.

Good thing is if Kendrick lost he would have lost zero respect from the public in general, without any proof of abuse.

Outside of that no one really cares about what Drake had to say about Kendrick, he just would have had to out rap him and that is just not possible.

Just played Drake x lil baby yes indeed in the car and killed the vibe. Ppl don’t fw Drake rap songs no more

I haven’t been able to listen to Drake rapping since the beef ended. Which is weird cause I didn’t think this beef would have any effect on how I listen to either of them . Feels like Kendrick stripped Drake of his rap pedigree.

  • serenade

even if he made a fully melodic album, i can't see him ever making a beloved hit song again. he's too divisive. a lot of people, normies not just twitter users, believe he is a pedophile who grooms teenagers. you would get weird looks for playing him no matter how good the song is. his issues are way deeper than losing a rap beef at this point, i really have no idea how he can recover from this.

I mean, at least he got time for Turks now, but really, he just needs to tweak the attitude, go back to the introspective basics and a big hit wouldn't hurt

    Basically the Kanye playbook.

Go off the grid for the next 1-2 year(s). Delete all social media accounts. No more IG packs. Don’t be spotted in public. If you have to go outside wear a mask or shiesty so no one can see your face.

Return with two albums ala Frank Ocean endless-Blond. Basically two Take Care/NWTS, masterpiece level projects. One can be R&B and one can be rap. Sorta like Scorpion but two separate albums instead of A side/B side. Don’t acknowledge or reference the beef. Can’t have “say that you a lesbian girl me too” or other 🌽 ball rhymes.

Ye never had one person do that to him though. I think Drake's ego is too big for him to admit defeat. It's kinda crazy that he stayed lowkey for the last 2 months for me lol I think he's popping out sooner rather than later

He should have kept it a friendly fade to stand a chance. Maybe he wouldn’t have won still but his fans would have been loud enough to make it seem like a tie at least

Honest question, does any Drake fan think things will go back to normal for him?

He will continue to sell, he is a legacy artist at this point for sure, but I mean do they think people will just forget and not call him a pedo anymore?

Not even MJ can shake off pedo rumors, even in death.

Your non rap nerd homies didn’t hear the Story of Adidon brother. It wasn’t even on streaming. NLU is ubiquitous and the beef was covered alongside normal news. They’re barely comparable.

Exactly, truthfully I didn’t think Kendrick W would be this difinitive.

I really though it would be debated through history because the fans could never come to a consensus.

But once I heard MTG I knew the winner was going to be clear.

B4 I share my thoughts, let me just say I'm probably Drake's biggest hater, and I wouldn't mind if someone murked him in Oakland. Now, with that out of the way... if I were his publicist, here's what I'd suggest (though I doubt he's capable of it):

    1. first, I'd tell him to start acting his age. No more songs about IG followers and painted nails. That's the first thing I'd suggest.

    2. The second thing is of course dropping the tough guy persona. I'd tell him he's not a mob boss but a former actor from Degrassi who grew up in a rich neighborhood in Canada where he and his mom ate tuna sandwiches together. I'd tell him to stop rapping about shootings and gangs because he knows nothing about it.

    3. The third thing I would advise him is to finally start writing his own s*** and stop using ghostwriters. Now is the time to actually prove he's not trash (although I know he's not capable of that, afterall he's been trash for 15 years straight).

    4. The fourth piece of advice would be for him to stop exploiting black American culture. I would tell him that he is not part of it and never will be. I would advise him to stick to his own scene in Toronto/Vancouver and to stop being selfish and help other underground artists from Canada. These are your people, help them. Show that you're not just someone who always takes, but that you're capable of giving back as well.

    5. Number five, he gotta apologize to Whitney and for straight up twisting that Mother I Sober track (classic joint). He should also say sorry to Kendrick (even though Kendrick should NEVER forgive him) and most of all, he needs to own up to that messed up "free the slaves" line he dropped. Nasty POS.

That's a solid start right there...

    you're balling your eyes out

This nigga is so SHAMELESS this the same nigga who had a Drake hate parade from 2015-2018. Now that he’s going up against a West Coast nigga, he’s Drake’s last fan standing.

THIS IS WHY EVERYBODY IN THE GAME HATE YOU NEW YORK NIGGAS

Drakes in a tight spot right now. He needs some serious changes, but you know that ain't gonna happen overnight. He might have to take a much longer break than people realize. Two, three years ain't gonna cut it.

To really prove he's turned a corner, he'd need to disappear like Rihanna or Frank Ocean did, maybe for 5+ years. Drake needs to grow up, and that doesn't happen overnight.

Thing is, he's hitting 38 this year and can't afford to ghost too long because people might forget about him and he'll be seen as an oldhead by the time he's back.

Kendrick don't have this problem he been mature since day one.

Yeah. A rapper with a bigger reach than Pusha was always gonna be a concern, but for now, Drake should be okay. He's laying low and waiting for an opening to push out some new music.

    Drake fans here me out.

Since people are saying ASAP got the worst diss and definitively lost against Drake, ASAP has gone to launch his fashion show, his industry friends all still support him and he hasnt missed a beat and anticipation for his album keeps building.

    Now that’s a normal L to take.

Do you think Drake has taken a normal L in this instance? Do you think how Drake moves going forward will have the same level of mock and scrutiny as ASAP?
