Some people think it’s a good thing to be able to continuously rhyme one scheme for a while, some people intentionally try to stay on one rhyme for a whole verse… it’s a choice that doesn’t really determine skill tbh but it takes skill to rhyme without switching the rhyme, it limits you to not just being able to switch to whatever. It’s harder to write like that than it is to write changing scheme every 2 bars
If it’s about the flow staying the same that’s different but the rhyme scheme thing feels like another bad faith reach to me. If Kendrick keeps a rhyme for a whole verse (pretty sure he has some that do it) no one would say it’s lazy they would appreciate the skill
It depends. Cause ur right stretching a rhyme scheme out for multiple bars has always been something respected. Like wayne does that a lot.
But drake barely used any internal rhymes in that scheme and used a suffix rhyme
Let’s see who has more streams a decade from now, drake or Kendrick
This type of talk is exactly why people thought Kendrick could rap with Drake. Yall equate popularity with skill.
Reminds me of the Khabib vs Mcgregor feud
The smugness of thinking he could move on, thinking Kenny ain't a threat is why this is happening, he hasn't learnt his lesson
he f***ed up trying to go to war without a fallback plan. his biggest saving grace w/ pusha was the fact that scorpion’s success was able to soften the blow of adidon
If you was in a pine box
I would still be in my spot
For you to make it to the peak
It’d have to be the death of me
A lot of his lyrics feel weird man, like they feel impersonal, and don't sound directed at grown women, idk how to explain , that song you Broke my heart, idk man
facts
a lot of creepy undertones
I keep thinking who ruined Cole, was it kendrick for like that or Cole himself for going with drake knowing he was sneak dissing him, Cole got what he deserved, p**** fr
I just can’t get over the fact he said he was basically peer pressured into dropping 7MD
He portrays himself as someone who’s above it all and is full of wisdom. Him caving into pressure so easily got me looking at him different

A Millie…
MC Hammer sold more records than Nas.
Sales/Streams aren't everything
I’m responding to a post literally trashing drake for his streams though
How do you flip that on some numbers don’t matter s***. The Kendrick fanbase, better known as the Drake haterbase, is cooked with this level of bias and double think

the boy has fallen
how is kendrick breaking all of his records while drake is falling off the charts
I thought he was the hit maker we depend on

There’s a debate there. most of the suffix words have two syllables that rhyme before it, and I always give a pass when that’s the case, even if it’s whole separate words repeating like crodie. When there’s syllables before the suffix giving the words more connection I think that’s fine. It’s a 4 syllable scheme that relies on a suffix for a lot of it but that’s not bad
Also people talking like he dragged it crazy but it was like a 8-10 bar sequence I think
Been playing a lot of Kendrick recently and idk how we convinced ourselves that Drake could ever rap with him
I guess it’s the fact that Drake stayed outside and was more present than Kendrick.
Real ones knew it wasn't a competition
On the real tho even bar for bar Drake not touching OD/S80 era Kendrick in that department either

Ok then since we care about numbers now
Drake still has more monthly listeners

Ok well until that day, drake won, since streams is what you’re hanging your hat on.

Droning on for minutes with that drowsy ass flow and cheap similes that don’t really add anything to the track. He wore that style out.
