The real issue w/reference tracks from a Drake or a future is that a big reason why they're where they are is their prolificness

There's no doubt they can write, but you're dropping every 6 months.

I bet a lot of rappers are thinking, if I had access to All of Vory / PND records to take and own I'd be super prolific too.

That's what actual producers do. This isn't the new gen situation where guys are just making beats...Pharrell takes active part in the songs development and is a credited writer

It's very likely the hook was written by Pharrell and the pre-chorus framework was already there. It's like that vid of Kanye showing Jay Z Lucifer while telling him "this is what i want you to do" before rapping the flow to a bridge Jay used. This is what that gen and above do

Apparently it's completely fine to use another artists hook.. except when it's Drake. Cuz some of the references that leaked had completely different verses and the only thing that was used was the hook.. but they sure as hell didn't say it was fine back then

That's why they're there. They serve the purpose of keeping him in the clubs, in rotation, even if they don't chart that high. Drake knows that.

Honestly, Drake is in this reference track situation because he's so thirsty to stay youthful and young with new flows and cadences and tbh it's worked.

it sounds like your accusation is that pharrell came up with the flow and rhyme scheme on the pre-chorus of alright, while kendrick came up with all the lyrics for it? if you're really trying to make that out as being tantamount to what drake has been doing, i think you're being really disingenuous lol.
