1) the reception of Morale
2) the fact that he’s been away for yearsBoth are dumb reasons but this site and even social media has Drake winning this for a while until Euphoria dropped
saying go back on this thread isn’t the best example to me though, when Kendrick was quiet the Drake fans were the loudest Ofc, that doesn’t mean the majority thought Drake was gonna win, it just means that his fans were overconfident.
Don’t you remember after every Kendrick track Drake fans were a minority here. So it’s easy to even exaggerate the inverse and act like oh everyone wanted Kendrick to win.
Again, I think some fans here rn are muddying the waters deliberately, if people are trying to have a discussion about putting Drake stans in their place then fair enough. but I’m speaking generally I don’t think gassing Drake up in the past is needed to make this Kendrick W any better. It’s also not wrong to say Drake has a large number of haters.
End of the day Kendrick beat him in an incredible way, outmanoeuvred releases, leaned perfectly into narratives that the audience wanted to hear, dropped good rap tracks and dropped a hit. That’s enough to say he won. We don’t need to do revisionism into the micromoments of what BIASED FANS were saying in-between tracks.

I think it is an accurate narrative to say Drake was “hated” more than Kendrick before this, more people in the middle wanted to see Drake lose rather than Kendrick.
Kendrick won because he was smarter and better, but the exaggerated negative fan commentary towards Drake exists because it’s what people wanted and Kendrick leaned into it perfectly imo.
