I think it was the rise of streaming + indie artists marketing on social media

and Drake was never the gatekeeper

he might make you hot for a bit but his cosign alone won't take you as far as a good team and being dedicated to your music's quality & popularity.

there were plenty of people who got a Drake feature and their run was one and done

I thought Blocboy JB would last long in the mainstream but he only had Look Alive & Rover.

Yung Bleu been at it for so long & his skill level is so high that the Drake cosign boosted him a lot, but his music can be mainstream with or without him. Same with Giveon, the music was already gonna connect, Drake just amplified it.

I think people just got sick of him for individual reasons & it all boiled over at a bad time for Drake
