He also spoke in interviews about why he choose to do that
The narrative for Cole switched recently because he choose to abandon his message and just talk slick, but Kendrick was doing that more than Cole in the beginning of his career, and it seems like Kendrick is going back to just slick raps after the last album because he gave his fans all that he could as far as message, that album felt like a closure album for that type of Kendrick, now he's in his K. I feel like yall just in here tryna be different so bad. A nigga can rap about grocery shopping, I can care less as long as the bars are there.
