I don’t think it was personal personal but it did evolve into having malice toward one another fueled by public opinion:Drake said on a radio show that Control felt like "harsh words" so when Kendrick would see him after that verse, he'd talk to drake like it's all love. My interpretation is that K dot meant nothing by it except keeping the competitive spirit alive, but Drake didn't feel the same way?

Honestly, I’m not sure about how much Drake fans will care if it was ghostwritten, since they don’t care about any of his other works being ghostwritten, but that would be bad for Drake in the context of hip hop in general.
