What is this? Drake and Meek Mills beef lasted for what? A week. Pusha T and Drake beefed, ended in like a week. Hell they even put Drake on the clock when Pusha T dropped the story of Adidon. Hell, Eminem responded to MGK in 2 weeks and acknowledged his beef before the diss. Tory Lanez and Joyner Lucas had a quick back and forth. Hell Chris brown and quavo already finished up their beef. The clock is over for Kendrick, he sent shots out first, and now has been ducking. Drake won. Kdot lost.

And, again, just my perspective but something about the way she presents her product feels like she is speaking directly to her environment. Whoever co-opts after that is whatever. Thats just pop culture.

With Dot, it feels like he's always been translating his experience to a "foreign audience". In fact, I would say, to me, that he has spent a lot of time "othering" himself in earlier work. And at first, maybe he did have a kind of Christ complex. Not out of arrogance, but bc he genuinely wanted to serve a purpose.

I'd be here for that as well. Don't care much for The Hillbillies as a song but I like the fact that whenever he steps out with Keem, he's able to not overthink s*** and just have fun on songs. We need more of that Kendrick.

The theme of the album has very little to do with actual religion to me

The theme is therapy and self reflection and ultimately choosing himself over his previous ambitions of “saving the world”

My interpretation of the church scene is it actually contradicts the themes of the album more than reinforces it

I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with the song really, it still adds to the album being a very intense and thoughtful listen

But Kendricks thoughts aren’t infallible

The song is about a complex issue and the song has certain things about it’s execution that can be slightly confusing or at least provoke some questions

And maybe that’s the point

I just really don’t think this is a case of media literacy. Most of us get the general point Kendrick was trying to make but that doesn’t mean we can’t question it. This is part of media literacy and dissecting something

Why do you think so? I don't think DAMN. is a classic but it's a very strong album from him imo. I guess I just wanna see a Kendrick that is okay with having fun on an album and rapping his ass off without feeling the need to have some overarching theme or having some huge message. He's given us enough of those already imo.

He can still have a message to some songs if he wants but I wouldn't want whatever message he chooses to get in the way of me just enjoying the songs for what they are.
