OVOJerseyI was like 8 or 9 first time I watched it with my dad and to this day I can remember how fkn shocked I was lmaoo.. dune2 is just such a masterpiece tho.. it doesn't have the emotional shock value as empire but imho it's the most complete sci fi master piece you'll see. The character development and progression of Paul from start to finish is just so Michael corrleone and very realistic. Not to mention I fkn love a good revenge movie lol. When combined with Villanueva's modernizing imagery and vision I'd say it's as good as empire from me. From the jump with the eclipse and how the world is literally closing in on them hunting them... goddamn just the overall electricity of the film from start to finish is like nothing I've seen in a movie since Return of the King
One thing I'll give Denis, he's a master at atmosphere and the Dune movies are dripping with it. I also liked Paul's development, especially the first act with Chani. Technically flawless film but the thing is I'll have to give Dune 2 a couple more spins before I weigh it against Empire. For now, Empire takes the cake.
