Idk, if I got hung up on what "makes sense" and what doesn't in lyricism I wouldn't be able to listen to Frank Ocean or Bob Dylan or a lot of great lyricists. Sometimes words conjure up s*** that they don't literally say on the page through the way they sound/feel (connotation vs denotation). That's pretty much what poetry is.
A lot of hip hop listeners aren't about that though and it's fine.

Bring up Bob Dylan/Frank Ocean as a way to look down on listeners of another genre to make yourself seem smarter is corny yo.
There's greater songwriters and lyricists that didn't have to be "all mysterious and cryptic" with their words.
Ribbon In The Sky is one of the most beautiful pieces of writing ever in music. Stevie aint have to add no unnecessary word usage or weird ass placement of words to pen that son.

Sure...and many great lyricists did/do engage in "cryptic" work. And poets. And painters. And filmmakers. There's nothing inherently superior or inferior about not saying what you mean, it's just a choice that is made effective by its execution.
