I think people were talking about how it was being perceived by many as poor quality, not a flop from a commercial viewership perspective. Those are two different arguments
The audio levels were messed up on the FOX stream which has happened with multiple halftimes and isn’t really Kendrick’s fault. But the show itself was great and a refreshing use of the halftime slot.
Kendrick going to be performing NLU for the rest of his life
Thank God its an amazing song that everybody wants to hear live
@CliCity somebody need to tell Dot to update, so we can end all this whining about his stats
My Dad about to be shock when I tell him this. He's a MJ Stan (lmfao rightfully so)
I work with a katy perry stan (apparently she actually has the record according to him) and he said this morning ‘oh he wont beat her record’
Never thought i would have the urge to banter a katy perry fan in 2025 yet here i am
His trajectory post-2017 was getting interesting, with the records in the early '20s not really hitting commercial dominance like they used to.... I do legitimately wonder if he naturally would've found another peak without the beef to bring so many eyes back to him
I don’t think we could really make that argument though. He dropped literally ONE project that wasn’t a rousing commercial success, and the reasons for that are obvious. It’s not like he dropped a commercially friendly project that fell on its’ face
SB probably felt like they took a bit of a gamble with this halftime and see it be the #1 most watched of all time gotta feel good.
I’m expecting more current rappers and R&B singers at future halftime.
Dot reviving NY would be hella disrespectful to Joey and some East Coast niggas that be hating on the West Coast
Those Joey tracks are a hilarious storyline in rap rn he sent shots at Kendrick & Cole hoping for a response and instead is getting cooked in some mid card beef with Daylyt and Mick Jenkins

I feel like him and Taylor have had similar trajectories, in that they had commercial slumps (Lover/Mr Morale) after smashes (1989/Damn), but an event (the Beef/the Eras Tour) propels them to new heights of popularity unforeseen leading them to having some of the best sales and attention of their careers
I do a different typing of guarding, i dont think u understand how bad I want that lakers win
Need 10 mommas with DJ scratches for the culture. Nas and Jay and some underground NY niggas
he be giving the lil nod to surfgang and now got ghais guevara music introing the damn half time show

And even that project that wasn’t as commercially successful still did almost 300K
Kendrick just didn’t bother pushing any of the songs to be hits like that, like Die Hard. Should’ve been a summer hit in 2022 but he treated it as a deep cut on the album

Dave free or baby keem might have to do it cause these niggas do not care 😂

If he dropped Morale after the beef, i dont think it would have sold much more lol its never made to be that kind of album
Also, Family Ties is a hit. The beef did help, but its not like it saved his commercial career
Sorry y'all, it's gonna be the Spurs vs Celtics in the Finals. That's on that 🕶

this is also why it would be great

Joey a good rapper but he’s done nothing in years to prove he’s THAT guy. It doesn’t feel earned when he’s rapping about it.

Nuggets / Knicks loading…
Kendrick better be talking big s*** on there too. Not dissing but like really talking like the goat.
Realistically it’s probably gonna be on some Wacced out murals s***
But I really want him to cut Cole in half
They gonna throw Jaxson Heyes at him
Jokic when he sees them send out Jaxon Hayes one on one
Madonna, Nicki Minaj, MIA, LMFAO, and Cee Lo Green? What year was that fever dream ass halftime show

Damn that's a great comparison
