The irony of the "You need a certain amount of intelligence...." meme is that Cole's music is actually pretty simplistic. Cole is usually at his best when he's not trying to be super deep. Thats why so many common folks gravitate towards him over someone more complicated and nuanced like Kendrick.

Didn’t really read too much of the argument in here but it looks like y’all are debating between Kendrick, Cole and Drake.
I’ve said this before Kendrick’s music is more so suited for niggas like us, who be online dissecting and reading into all the layers and s***. There was another video released not that long ago, and all 19 people interviewed said "Kendrick", nobody mentioned j cole or drake.

Also Cole and Drake are everyman rappers. They touch the surface in their content which then makes it more relatable for different sides of the coin.
Theres still alot of ppl who dont know what tpab tackles lol nothing wrong with what you prefer, but you cant argue that Kendricks music is more thought provoking.
The talent Kendrick has is similiar to what Lupe did in his early career but even better. Making a***ytical, conceptual music while appealing to a mainstream

Even Drake just shrugged and packed it up. Once Cole came back with the amazing feature run and Kendrick kinda faded in the background again working on his next album, it swung back to Cole > Kendrick.
When Kendrick drops his next album, best believe you about to see fans, casuals, critics and other fellow artists on his nuts again.

good point. Cole's albums never do well in the long run. Meanwhile kendrick has his albums breaking eminem's longevity records on the billboard charts.

Cole definitely has as much fans as Kendrick IMO. That’s one area where they are equal. I still think Cole is more relatable.

I mean Graduation has a 79 on there and 808s has a 75 score. I don’t think using Metacritic as an example is logical. Because his career definitely didn’t end after Grad nor was he s***ted on.
