I do think, similar to Radiohead, if you market yourself as an activist or a commentator on the world’s ills, and fall short of that, criticism comes with the territory…some in good faith and some in poor faith. I know Kendrick has actively backed away from that responsibility in his music and messaging post Damn. So I think he’s tried to shed away a lot of that.

I would expect someone who presents like Kendrick has, to have substantive stances on Palestine or even on ICE, specifically being from LA. Or to make a statement on the man who was part of his Super Bowl performance and was tackled and detained during it for showing solidarity with Sudan and Palestine.

It should be the norm to support people in an open air prison. Kids are dying for flying kites. They’re living in rubble. Idc if it’s 2020 vibes or what but someone like Kendrick should 100% be expected to be advocating for the freedom of the people in Gaza. Otherwise his lyricism and “activism” is just performative
