this is half true and half bullshit

lets not forget kendrick is actually making money more than all of them besides drake, and then some years travis scott

and lets not forget kendrick's label was literally a local no name INDIE record label that moved up the mud together at their own pace while eating all the loss and hardship. does no one remember that sxn 80 sold like 40k fw in its debut year? lol. and he's been working and rapping the same way since klep. have you heard or listened to klep ever or lately? its some of his most "preachy" lyrics in his whole career trying to figure it out. and aftermath didnt come into the picture till halfway of s80s creation, the budget was nothing, and aftermath wasnt fully working with him until gkmc when everything was final.

also lets not forget this is all in a time west coast music wasnt mainstream popular nor profitable lol.

also, isk why this type of convo always ends up as a diss to the artist - kendrick didnt say everyone has to be like him, and he supports and collab literally the music youre talking about. he's just doing what he's doing at the end of the day. and his music is also west coast drenched which west has always had a balanced of "real rap" and "fuck around/street/party" rap. and he literally does both on all his albums and tapes. this is west coas music. sucks to suck if you dont like it or feel left out. thats your issue.

and also who gives a f***. articles and s*** did the same to kanye, they did the same to andre, they did the same to lupe etc. of making them the "golden child example" when they literally didnt ask or pose like that.

and the contract and label you ultimately sign is up to you. it all has its up and downs. can be kendrick/tde that had to do tour in a minivan for nearly a decade sticking them to themselves in a time the mainstream ignored westcoast music and them getting it out the mud, that then happened to work out in the end for them thankfuly. which they were close to losing everything lol.

or you can take the average path where you end up in a middle of the pack label with a middle of the pack contract with middle of the pack label attention, but you get your money upfront and your music boosted "instantly".

there are give and takes in it all.

theres a lot of history youre skipping over and nuance lol.

Man section.80 only sold like 5k fw

crazy how some people act like nowadays that this nigga "had everything given to him" and that he's proveleged when he literally lived out a van until 2013 and no one was listening to westcoast music and they started out as a LITERAL INDEPENDANT LOCAL label that had only one half successful artist for the longest that kept the tank on fumes and light barely on.

NO PART OF MY POST IS A DISS TO KENDRICK
    its a questioning of fans

man you really got to work on reading comprehension and being overly defensive of kendrick lamar cause I am not doing this anymore

  • Dec 12, 2024

"there is a lot of nuance you are skipping over"

dog you cant even read a post to completion and recognize I am saying the fanbases get ridiculous not the artist

if you cant grasp the simple message of a post I just wont engage at all. I recognize the nuance I am saying FOR THE MAJORITY OF HIS CAREER EVEN BEFORE GOING INDIE KENDRICK HAD / HAS MORE FREEDOM THAN SOME ARTIST GET THEIR ENTIRE CAREERS. I DIDNT SAY HE DIDNT EARN IT

    PLEASE LEARN TO F***ING READ

acting like I called Kendrick a plant when I am saying STOP COMPARING ALL ARTIST AND ENJOY THEM AS INDIVIDUALS with their radically different upbringings. Do not twist my words to fit an argument you want to have at 12:30am on a thursday man just read and process. If you really are going to jump to conclusions like a latina then ask clariffying questions but no I am not doing that with you when I saw Kendrrick live 12 years ago and been following him his entire career.

That is not what I was saying and I am not going to argue some delusional s*** that you made up that you think I mean when I spend a great deal of time typing out these paragraphs on this computer I could be gaming on but my dumbass spilled juice on

No sir. Argue with yourself about the made up point because you lack reading commprehension. I always place it on the fans and journalist on things like over doing hyperbole. A rapper will always say their the best on some ash ketchum s*** that isn't what bothers me its when the fans because over consumed by that

Its even Doechii fans ( mainly men doing this) already pitting her against other women which then gets toxic and creates the mandingo competition , proxy wars, stans going at each other necks that we see to this day. So when I say "listen to more rap because know single artist is all knowing of a genre " someones like "so you think I dont listen to music"

s*** I love daft punk to death but I am not gong to ever say "yeah only dance music needed is daft punk" even if I could survive like that there is so much power in recognizing how many people are putting in dope work in every genre

the idea that "if kendrick died tomorrow I would be done with rap he is everything right now" grows tiring

Gambino I kind of forgot because for his final album I expected a little bit more man as a huge gambino fan feels like it should have cooked longer in some ways, been a visual album or needed more final touches

but will relisten because of you
