Ya’ll didn’t experience J. Cole’s run man, the other dude who ran 106 & Park and the college circuit and was getting major co-signs from legends in music and collaborations
I was there
There have always been people who thought he was overrated , he just isnt everyones cup of tea man
Im not even saying Cole isnt big 3 the big 3 exists bc of him
Like he has a lot of fans, I knew hella people who loved his music in school and I started following him in like 2010
But to me he just isnt nearly as good as Drake or Kendrick like at all, and a lot of people feel that way, no matter what era we go back to
Y wouldn't there be
Because the concept of a big 3 has been about time and place, not popularity. Whether the automotive, basketball, anime, etc iterations of a big 3 they all share a generational tie
Y wouldn't there be
Bc big 3 is a dead and misunderstood concept imo
Big 3 is basically a nickname for Drake Kendrick and Cole rather than like a changing or updating thing

J Cole made it cool to go to school, like deadass

I've always thought of it as a list of the three current biggest artists of the genre
If it's like meant to be a historical role for the 2010s I guess I'd put Cole over Travis yeah
I mean there was definitely a time where Cole belonged in the big 3
I just think for the last like 5 years he probably didn't
The man has dropped 3 #1 albums, 2 group #1 albums, 3 tours and a festival every year, multiple top ten songs, actually was the first rapper to ever debut 8 songs in the top 10 which all happened in the last 5 years, while doing a mini semi-pro career in a pro league in Rwanda and also having a brand shoe deal and a #2 on his label with one of the biggest tiktok hits and successful albums, one of which many people consider a classic
I just don’t know what y’all base it on lol

Tbh, time will most definitely shift the meaning of big 3s because this generation isn't the same as last. Hell, Chrysler not even Chrysler no more. The NBA has basically legislated 3 superstars to a team out, and the only big 3 anime still going is One Piece
It's just antiquated terminology at this point, but I don't agree with your Travis take. Mostly because Cole's music and promotional presence is more genuine in the sense that ties his fan base closer to his music. Travis is definitely having a "bigger" career, but as artist's they're in a different lane to me

When someone can give me what anyone else taking his spot did in the last 5 years in comparisons that’d be dope lmfao

Some of those I’d say are pushing it when it comes to hits but I understand the sentiment

The big 3 is specifically talking about those three rappers when they were leading the game from 2011-2017/18
It’s not a podium that needs to be changed out or modified.

Oh ya then it's definitely j Cole over Travis
Don’t hate Cole, I just think he’s above average and doesn’t stand out in really any way for me

You know s*** is bad because fans are desperate for a “next gen” big 3 instead of just embracing the next stars genuinely

I must’ve been out the loop. Most of these songs I’ve never heard nor knew they ever charted except for the songs from FHD era and the project the year after that

This nigga is the epitome of another troll. Because he’ll virtually never get touched unless he’s caught lacking from out of that cave he streams in. And all he does is talk s*** from behind a screen.
But one day he’ll meet a crash dummy

Couldn’t agree more. Tbh I think Travis is better than him all time at this point too
