As a NYer that’s not totally true. Dipset was still heavy over here and Dipset is the reason we started f***in with Wayne cuz Juelz was doing collabs with him circa 05.
Our true downfall started during the blog era when Ebro outright refused to give any of our up and comers radio play because they didn’t have big names.

And this is not me talking out my ass my boy who interned at Hot97 during this era can confirm that Ebro wasn’t tryna give Rocky and Joey Badass their flowers but was quick to play Atlanta trap

My main gripe with other NYers is that we got the most to say about every other region's sound but we left our guys dead in the water either due to hate or some other s***.

When Kendrick & Rocky were coming up at the same time, LA embraced Kendrick while a lot of our OGs was hating on Rocky for not sounding like Dipset or some s*** lol

Yet at the same time our OGs and Gatekeepers wouldn't give Joey Badass and the beast coast niggas any play or motion because their "names" weren't big enough so they had to run to the internet to get love

After Pop Smoke got killed the Brooklyn drill scene just devolved into niggas doing Christian Bale's Batman voice while ignoring the other elements of what made Pop stand out.

And that's not even getting into niggas not acknowledging the lesser known acts like MIKE

Proud NYer for life but where we at in rap is completely our own fault due to ego and hubris lol

Dipset hype fizzled out due to stuff like infighting, arrests and Juelz d*** problems.

But it’s not like Wayne and Jeezy just got here and we immediately dropped them niggas and started f***ing with him it was a gradual thing.

And also as far as southern rappers T.I. was the first one to make a mark on the East Coast during the 2000s because of his hits and Pharrell kept calling him the Jay Z of the South people forget that

Hot still an independent radio station, that's where a lot of sense that what Ebro was talking came from. Y'all still had new artists pushed through Rosenberg on Real Late. Just not on prime radio through the 2010s

Also I'm sure acts like majority of the beast coast, A Boogie, Young Ma, etc got to be on the Summer Jam stage
