ok half the songs start with me bopping my head and then he says something or delivers it in a way that makes me cringe (wacced out murals, peekaboo, squabble up, gnx, luther)

luther the best example of this because 90% of the song is beautiful but when he goes 'fye fye' and silences the beat it just ruins it, it takes you out of the trance of the song

a lot of the beats sound goofy as hell like a 12 year old made em in garage band (squabble up, man at the garden, gnx)

also hate the super simple monotone repetitive hooks, it's so obvious he's trying to make something generic when that's not his specialty

his pen doesn't seem as sharp/seems like he's not as inspired as he used to be

reincarnated woulda been good but i hate his delivery on it, like why is he yelling and overly dramatic, he could've dialed it back just a bit and i would like

songs like heart 6, dodger blue, gloria don't have any glaring flaws but are just boring, especially sonically

last point, the beef made me see through kendricks mask which makes it hard to enjoy a song like wacced out murals. you can't say 'fuck everybody' and then name drop god 2 bars later and then a few bars later say 'know you a god even if they say you aint', if you're gonna take the morally superior angle to win a beef then you gotta stay consistent with it. same reason i dont like nlu

kendrick is just not melodically inclined at all, he needs to lean on people like sza and sampha more, that's what makes a song like Father Time work so well, he does his storytelling thing and lets someone else make the song catchy

also his ear for production has gotten so much worse, he's not being picky enough with beats
