Kendrick doing less than 300k is a disappointment and I say that as a stan. If Ye cleared it I don't know why Kenny didn't do it as easily but I guess the general public isn't feeling it like his last albums. It is what it is on one hand we got a lot of hate itt but on the other hand yall cope too much when Kendrick probably doesn't care since this fulfilled his TDE contract and that's all I think he wanted this album to do because he seems to not give a f*** after less than a month

The public at large wouldn’t f*** with the album either way so it wouldn’t make the biggest difference, but idk why he and his team thought it was a good idea to drop this album for the Summer. It’s clearly a Fall-Winter album lol

Kanye’s listening parties were lowkey an amazing rollout strategy especially in the pandemic era.

I feel like he shouldn't have returned with an album like this at all. Not after taking 5 years off. He could have used the anticipation/momentum to drop an album that blew him up even more but he missed that opportunity dropping this album. Same thing happened to Cole when he dropped 2014FHD, got all that hype and then used it to drop 4YEO.

When you have some spare time, go back to the first few pages of this thread and see when I said he'd do 300-400k and peep how many people basically attacked me and called me stupid/said I didn't know what I was saying.

My peers are a talented group
But even if you take all their statistics and carry the two
Even if you rounded up the numbers and rounded the troops
There's still nothin' they could really do…

I said it before and I'll say it again, the 223k that Drake did with DLDT as a surprise mixtape of leaks/demos that y'all clowned will HUMBLE. a lot of y'all and y'all's faves as more time passes and y'all see just how hard it is to hit those numbers in the current music climate. Just wait.

So far this decade, the only hip-hop albums that have debuted with bigger numbers are:
Drake — Certified Lover Boy: 613k
Juice WRLD — Legends Never Die: 497k (bundles)
    Kanye West — Donda: 309k
Kendrick Lamar — Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers: 295.5k
Lil Uzi Vert — Eternal Atake: 288k
    J. Cole — The Off-Season: 282k
Eminem — Music to Be Murdered By: 279k (bundles)
Pop Smoke — Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon: 251k (bundles)

Eternal Atake had bundles too (idk if they helped a lot to reach these numbers tho)

Wasn’t all artist back then? Who wasn’t caking off bundles

Bundles only really started to pop off like that with Trav’s Astroworld with ridiculous amount of merch such as keychains for 3$ that counted as an album sale because he gived the digital version

It's too bad reality checks and metacritic don't cover the balances due whenever it's time to recoup.

Some Donda tracks had a lot of replay value. And that last event right before Donda dropped was great promo. Something only Kanye could do. That's why.
