Im just point more examples before she went hard in pop to make my point lol
Hip hop and hip pop are both rap
"and im saying this as someone who loves drake"
🥴
They always say that like anyone gives a f***. So pathetic.
Is Doo Wop by Lauryn Hill a rap song?
yes. but need to know by doja is a pop song.
They always say that like anyone gives a f***. So pathetic.
It's so y'all won't deflect any concrete criticism with "You're a Drake Hater" so it doesn't count.

Fr. So many people do the "i love insert artist but everything they do sucks" s***
Never seen people so scared to admit an album is just average or ok.
Using every buzz word in the book to explain away the non replay ability or using whatever artistic vision nonsense to explain away people not feeling the music.
this is a sales thread
It's pathetic really because technically the album isn't BAD, it's just a clear stepdown from his past albums in terms of execution of ideas but you can't say that because to Kendrick stans, he can never miss lol.

At the end of day appreciate both Kendrick and Drake and don’t be biased when they don’t meet expectations I love Clb but I can see how folks didn’t and that’s okay same for Kendrick with his album I think the problem is that Kendrick stans and fans hyped up his first week sales so much that now he didn’t meet them expectations they don’t know how to accept it and let it be
Still can't believe he's selling 85K in the 2nd week. Damn.
It isn’t that hard to believe, just listen to the music and the numbers make completely sense
I wonder why this particular Future album is doing such big numbers when the last two were way better and did way less
If you think Drake hasn't rapped about the black experience you haven't been listening. Literally all his albums are full of songs speaking on his problems growing up and his relationship with his parents, friends, city, fans, fame, women. 70% of his music is his experiences as a black man dealing with everything that comes with that. It's why people love him and he's one of the best rappers of all time

how much of that music would still be his experience if he wasn't black though? If Jack Harlow had a dad that went to prison he could hypothetically make like 80% of his catalog. Drake doesn't talk about black issues in his music, he makes music about himself

Define black issues

Finally getting the proper appreciation

Big features, really good rollout and multiple songs that have become small hits + a really big hit in Wait For U (life is good was also huge but released too early to help HoF numbers). Deluxe so soon helped with momentum
Wizard>>INLY>HoF though imo

Honestly everyone's life and "black experience" is different and Drake can only speak on his own black experience. How would you like to see him speak on it if he had a new approach? I think there would be pressure for him to be the face of the black movement if he made it a bigger part and who really wants to take all that responsibility. He is not our savior he's just another one of us. He makes his lyrics personal and I like that honesty it's why he feels more relatable. He's not speaking for all of us or preaching to us. He puts all his own insecurities and mistakes out there and some people judge and some people relate
If Jack had a father in prison that's his white experience to rap about and a lot of white people might relate to that. I don't think that topic is exclusive to the black experience

I think some people conflate black experience with constant struggle and systemic trials and tribulations.
