but unfortunately drake features don't mean instant year defining hits anymore
idk what happened but after 2018/2019 that run of every drake feature being a lasting hit for months became few and far between

That's a lie because not every single Drake feature becomes a hit (what a silly, ridiculous expectation to have) and not all of those songs got pushed as singles. Most of them don't have music videos and never got sent to radio so they never reached their full potential.
It's also foolish to think Drake alone can have multiple songs being out as features at the same time and ALL OF THEM will all become mega hits. There were some Drake features from 2018/2019 that never took off because other songs were taking off at the same time.
What happens at the very least is that they end up being the highest-peaking/most-streamed songs from that artist's album and you can really only say that about Drake's features. It doesn't mean his stimulus ever lost its power when he hops on your song and it doesn't become a smash hit automatically but still, no artist can give a song added visibility like Drake can and ever artist knows that.

serenadethe drake stimulus was definitely becoming less effective until wait for u came out, he had a string of features in 2021 that had little long term stability. although i think P power could have been a hit if it had been released with the original beat.

Same. It had the most hype leading up to it's release and Drake hadn't dropped anything up until that point since CLB. Gunna really f***ed himself over with that. He probably should have never added the sample to begin with and then to make it worse, they f***ed up its release. By the time it dropped, the song was ruined and people had lost interest.
Future played his own cards right with his own Drake feature and now he's got a hit out of it.

However the industry was still in the sales mindset when they created equivalents. Maybe one day way later they'll switch it around
They definitely need to switch it cause streaming and buying music aren’t even remotely similar in regards to consumer intent

That last album was ass but based off the name I expect a lot of pop smoke/drill influence and drill production slap so hard anyone can sound fire on that so I got high hopes for game next album. But ima wait to hear singles/loosies before I get too excited.
