Those are good numbers for Rocky but what happened to the 200k+ number I was seeing online? Was that a fake projection?

Since 100k+ great is considered good for Rocky, what numbers would be considered great for J. Cole and for Drake?

200K+ was completely fake, that was set as a betting line by Kalshi for some reason

However, there was a Billboard press release a few days ago that claimed the album had sold 130K in vinyl before release

As of right now, it’s unsure whether that was a global total or a misreported figure

people who don’t check sources are baffled about the 200k number lol

It’s relative to their last drop

So Cole needs to do much better than MDL and Drake needs to do better than his last solo

It’s blowing my mind how that number actually gained traction and people believed it. It was never reported officially ANYWHERE

Kalshi affiliates infiltrated the hip hop social media space, so formerly trusted sources suddenly started saying 200k and everyone else ran with it

Good for Cole, for this album specifically, would be 300K+. His last album did 282K, and The Fall Off has been touted as his big retirement album, in the making for 10 years, and has physicals to back it up. It’s gotta clear at least 300K.

Good for Drake would be 350K+ (without physicals). His last solo album did 400K, and whether we want to or not, people are gonna compare the first performance of Iceman to the first week performance of GNX. With physicals, a good number for him is 400K+

I'd have imagined that by now, everyone would have known to wait for HDD projections before jumping to any conclusions but alas.

I think for Cole, you have to use his last solo album, and that'd be The Off-Season. So, anything above 282k for Cole and anything above 402k for Drake would be considered great numbers for their next respective albums?

No. Cole has to improve on Off-Season, and Drake shouldn’t be expected to hit 400K again

Why do artists 17 years into their careers have to go up sales wise still?

Complex reported it. 200k was feasible, but it Luminate may have axed some sales. Still gotta wait for Billboard numbers.

For these specific albums, Cole has to, Drake doesn’t.

They asked what would be “great” not what would be serviceable

All I see is Drake fans saying he’s gonna do 600 and he’s gonna match CLB, I’m holding them to their own standards

Complex does not have any info about album sales, they was running with the Kalshi info

Rocky claimed 130k sold units before the album dropped

    Streaming wise he's doing 70k

    = 200k

They claimed that’s how many vinyls were bought, they still need to be shipped out to count first week, they could easily be just shipped in phases like other physicals
