Taylor, Drake, Morgan, Bad Bunny, and BTS.

All artists who, to an extent, carried and elevated their genres and the artists within them.

    What scale was it exactly

    completely restructured rap

    made mixtapes albums

made surprise drops were now normalized (after beyonce did it it felt like only beyonce could do it)

literally came out of f***ing no where with at that time his most critically acclaimed album yet

it also sold half a million in a week so idk maybe im just stupid as f*** and dont remember how the entire world stopped when this came out and know yourself became an insane hit and took over vine

this also goes into a further point that a LOT if not most of drakes most popular s*** is NOT for the radio, like this album.

Also this is completely wrong. IYRTITL is getting the same amount of daily streams right now as So Far Gone, lower than every other Drake project. It’s a well acclaimed project but it’s nowhere near one of his most popular releases

iyrtitl blurred the lines between mixtape and albums. its funny he reinvented rap albums twice

first he said u know what a mixtape can actually be an album level project, so far gone.

then he said u know what, f*** it. why cant a mixtape be an album? put this b**** on streaming, not dat piff.... IYRTITL

Blurred the lines so much that he called it a mixtape that he cut corners on every chance he got to speak about it

It was a mixtape, just one you had to buy

I find it extremely frustrating and disheartening that you all constantly deny drakes impact on the decentralization of hip hop music. Before drake there was so much more power in label owners hands but post him artist have far more leverage.

Whether that’s making mixtapes basically albums with the level of quality put into them

Or making platforms like SoundCloud a viable platform for artist to not only promote themselves but make money off their work

To literally blurring the lines between what can and can’t be uploaded to streaming services by putting a mixtape on iTunes. I know it’s hard to believe this is an accomplishment but at the time it was mind blowing lol

Drake gets credit for legitimizing streaming and fast-tracking it as the industry norm, but the music business was already headed in that direction

Artists also do not have more leverage now than they did 10 years ago what are you on about

The music industry is in as dire a position as it’s ever been, and that’s mostly because of streaming’s effects

Absolutely insane you all live like this

Even dot is on record crediting drake for inspiring section 80

All of the goat mixtapes we got in the 2010s are a result of a kid name cudi and most
    Importantly, so far gone.

crazy thing is, drake will still probably wind up being the rap MVP by default in 2026 just by dropping iceman and getting a song or two to spend 20+ weeks on the hot 100.

kendrick can contend if he drops again, and maybe travis if his album doesn't come and go within a week, but that's about it as far as competition goes.

So u gonna tell me that an artist in 2005 got more leverage than one in 2025?

Another point to intensify the blow, 40 is on record saying that SFG was revolutionary for the industry because no one could believe that music this good was made off a laptop in hotel rooms.

Pair the autonomy rappers get from being able to publish their OWN music uploading mixtapes on streaming platforms recording music off they phones don’t got more of a chance than an amaturer recording on a 4 track in 05?

Obviously technology advancing plays a big role in this, but at the scene of the crime there’s always a guy there!!

Combine SoundCloud, defying the typical recording studio process with homemade s***, putting out mixtapes on streaming and blurring the line between mixtape and album yea I think u can easily and comfortably say drake revolutionized not only rap but music creation as a whole.
