    Exactly.

If Cardi surprise dropped this and only had one vinyl version & one CD version available, then 200K is a great number.

But for all of the promo she did? All of the variants? All of the extra versions of the album? All of the in-store signings? All of the singles that have been out for years tacked onto to the album? In that scenario, 200K is abysmal

It’s like if a basketball player takes 40 shots in a game and ends up with 20 points

For as much effort as she and her team put into selling this album, the end result was abysmal

Yeah bro im sure you have a long historical marketing track record and have been involved woth multiple album rollouts with artists that have Cardis budget to bless us with this expert opinion comparing art to sports thanks

That was a panic move she even said it herself, and tried to make a joke out of it claiming the label told her they wasn’t helping promote so she had to do it herself. And on top of that your just copying what the clipse did in real time I’m just saying in 2025 if you’re super star status that music should speak for itself I will give the clipse credit because they had to reach gen z they’re 20+ years in the game, but na not cardi seem like she was trying to hard.. but it’s not her fault it’s not the niggas that gassed her star power

Once again youre saying an artist should not market their music??? 😭😭😭

I’m not comparing art to sports, I’m comparing numbers to numbers. You think Atlantic gives a f*** about the artistic merit of a Cardi B album? F*** no, they’re tryna sell products and make money. That s*** bricked

You’re looking at s*** in a vacuum. Everything requires context.

If this new Taylor Swift album sells 200K first week, is that a success or is that a brick?

Yeah i must have missed the part where the decline stopped

So, I guess the Drake vs. Kendrick beef didn't really affect anything after all.

Not at all just saying some have to try hard and real stars don’t  I seen drake do it, I seen Nicki do it,I seen beyonce do it, I seen Taylor do it that whole marketing look like desperation because all in all she look stupid because the plan was to outsell Nicki that’s why she dropped her singles a week after Nicki’s, that’s why she waited for Nicki to finally drop so she could drop but didn’t notice niggas didn’t f*** with her like that because she’s only one album in Nicki had 4 albums she could fall back on before dropping pf2 that was a chess move and cardi took the bait should’ve been dropped her sophomore five years ago and said f*** Nicki lmao

Okay. If Kendrick releases a new album tomorrow and it sells 100K first week, is that a success or a flop?

It didnt actually labels are closing down their marketing for hip hop and investing MUCH less. Theres been less rap numbers this year than the year before less rap acts at Coachella as well

Cardi had all the marketing in the world behind her that’s why we’re calling this s*** a flop

The numbers itself were decent especially for female rap. She mainly getting clownerd because she did lots of marketing including a court trial that was solely for marketing (imo) she even had court album versions with meme covers of her.

  • I remember when Nicki dropped that one single produced by atl Jacob and it underperformed, cardi dropped that s*** with Megan a few days later on some funny s*** and that s*** flopped lmao

And all three of those projects didn’t utilize anywhere near the same amount of marketing & sales tactics that Cardi did.

Tyler - midweek release, he sold the same amount as Cardi with three less tracking days
Drake & PND - only CD physicals available first week, mostly streaming units (219K)
Future & Metro - all streaming units, no physicals available

    CONTEXT.

  • Sep 29, 2025

tbh i predicted 90k streaming units and she did 110k, so she certainly exceeded my expectations on that front. that alone would be respectable if she hadn't turned it into a competition and talked a bunch of s***.

ironically, she could have kept her mouth closed and done 140k-160k or whatever and i think it'd go over better for her than pulling taylor swift level tactics and only barely touching 200k.

Are you seriously trying to argue that pure sales are a bad thing? 🤔 88K physical sales in 2025 is actually very impressive.

I’m literally the #1 advocate for physical sales in this thread

Especially when you have multiple meet and greets forcing people to buy them just to get a picture
