IS
CHRIS
BROWN
A RAPPER
???
He's both that's what people are getting at is that black artists can be more than one thing. You keep trying to box them into either pop or r&b or rap and they're not. You can't be just one genre if you want to make it in the industry in this generation
Stop it bro
No one says Chris Brown’s name when talking about rap artists
early-mid 2010s, people definitely considered him a rapper. he was commonly referred to as “singer/rapper Chris Brown” when he made headlines. rappers would go to him for features where they just wanted him to rap, not even sing during that period.

here she is on a Wheezy beat trading bars with young thug, so now she isnt a rapper?
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okan_WxhTGcThe song is bubblegum. This is her wheel house.
She's expanding on Nicki's pop side.
Doja got a response for y’all

Drake and Nicki have had success in the "Pop" field, but their discography does not have nearly as much Pop as Doja's does.
I don't know how hard that is to grasp. Like someone said, maybe it's because Rap has become the new Pop but Doja literally makes full on "Pop" songs and a lot in comparison to a Drake.

Bro y’all are being overly technical.
When I say “Doja isn’t a rapper”, I mean her music and her artistic identity doesn’t fall under the rap category. I’m not saying she doesn’t rap on some of her songs, she does, but she’s not a rapper.
If someone says name your favorite rappers, Chris Brown’s name will NEVER come up.
If someone says name your favorite singers, Chris Brown’s name might come up.
That’s the difference

so if she was on a Metro beat it would count, but in a Wheezy beat it doesn't count? Bet
If Chris Brown and Doja are rappers, then so is Ed Sheeran.
Or does he not get that label because he’s white?

s*** got me crying

Clearly not a rapper

I think that lumping every black artist into the rap category is putting them in a box more than anything.
Doja Cat is one of the most important voices in pop music right now, she shouldn’t be lumped into Rap just because she’s black

ed sheeran has like 4 rap songs his whole career

why cant she be included in both categories?

nobody calls Gudda Gudda their favorite rapper either, but he’s still clearly a rapper
what’s your point?

That's ironic because I was going to say you're the one being overly technical trying to categorize every single artist. What exactly do you label someone like X? I think it's hard to pinpoint artists like him that don't have a specific genre
so if she was on a Metro beat it would count, but in a Wheezy beat it doesn't count? Bet
That was a good check but still.

no Fubuki slander pls
That was a good check but still.
its all good fam, we're just having fun here, nobody cares that much ( I hope )

Gudda Gudda doesn’t have millions upon millions of fans who have him as one of their favorites artists as CB does.
And CB fans would say he’s not of their favorite singers/artists, not rappers
because @shaleirose doesn't want to read headlines like this

shoutout @Extraterrestrial
Has nothing to do with this. Find a better argument (that isn’t “you hate women”)

X was very diverse but his music was always clearly rooted in rap
