He was clearly giving an example
BEATS DONT MAKE THE F***ING RAPPER DUMBASS
THATS WHAT IM TRYING TO SAY
THE PRODUCTION HAS NO BEARING ON THE VOCAL STYLE OF THE F***ING ARTIST IF SHE'S RAPPING SHE'S RAPPING, IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT SHES RAPPING OVER
These niggas would be awful in a debate class
Just pure conjecture and ignoring the opposing argument
Doja Cat
Is a pop artist
That raps when she wants
Her biggest songs
Are pop songs
She's more melodic rap-singy
Than strictly rap

And we’ve said multiple times that vocally, she’s not rapping all the time either
Wait ya still talking bout if doja a rapper or not
Don't worry I just ended it
My favorite pop song
This is just like (insert random Fergie song here)
I’m tired of pretending pop doesn’t have its own genre ethos + traditional sounds
When a song has a sung melody with production that mixes genre influences to the point of its primary genre being ambiguous? It’s a pop song.
Traditionally this would be in dance music comprised of a mix of: rock, r&b, funk, disco in whatever variations
So let’s keep this in mind
To use Drake as an example
Hotline Bling - pop with hiphop influence
God’s Plan - hiphop with pop influence
Hold On We’re Going Home - pop (traditional)
A Little Bit - pop
Summer Games - pop
Lets Call It Off - pop
Passionfruit - pop
In My Feelings - hiphop with r&b influence
Feel No Ways - pop with hiphop influence
And we’ve said multiple times that vocally, she’s not rapping all the time either
SHE IS RAPPING ON MOST OF HER PROJECTS, THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE CONTENT OF HER ALBUMS HAVE RAPPING ON IT, ALL OF THE VERSES ARE RAPPING
i've been saying this entire time that all of her work even dating back from her actual studio album days have primarily featured rapping on it
this makes her a rapper, regardless of the style of production that she is on
it doesn't matter what songs of hers charts, it doesn't matter what style of music she pursues, she has rapped since she first came out
I understand she raps. No debate. Rapping can't be the only qualification.
But I wouldn't call Chris Brown a rapper, and he's rapped on tons of songs. Been in tune w/ the culture etc.

She’s not
I understand that she raps. But all those things can't be what makes someone a rapper.
First test is what kind of music do you make. Never heard on her on a Metro beat, nothing like that.
here she is on a Wheezy beat trading bars with young thug, so now she isnt a rapper?

I understand she raps. No debate. Rapping can't be the only qualification.

and now we go back to square one, does Chris Brown's music primarily have rapping on it?

I really feel like if she was a man it wouldn't even be a debate. No one saying Kid Laroi or Juice Wrld aren't rappers

Passionfruit is House because it was blessed by the greatness that is Moodymann

Kid Laroi isn’t a rapper
She’s a rapper who makes r&b and pop music
She dabbles in multiple genres like Trippie red
I would actually call her a popstar who dabbles in rap and r&b.
That's where we a disagreeing.

I miss Drake in that Indie Pop bag from SFG...
I know it was just what was popular with how much Blog Era made those two genres blend at times, but he exceeded at it way more than his peers
