I think Breach is alright, though it feels like a step down from their last one Clancy tbh. I'm sure with subsequent listens it'll start to reveal itself more though

I consider myself a fan, but I'd argue that they only had one truly great album before this one (Trench). That album kinda validated them in the eyes of a lot of people and then they fell off with a not great album immediately after which killed that momentum.

Their older stuff hasn't aged super well even if it has a soft spot in my heart. Last year's album Clancy is very very good and kinda reconvinced me that they had some staying power. The singer said that it felt like they got people's attention back.

This year's album Breach, I think, is their second best and is a great listen front to back. I'm very happy to see it reach this kind of success (it's their first #1 in 10 years). And I know that I'm not alone among fans and normies too. They're low-key getting some backlash on social media for not including enough tracks from the new album on their tour lol
