burymeineckolol I'm not calling into question Drake's ability to rap. It's just a lot of his success comes from his ability to make his sound widely accessible. He's versatile. Most of Drake's biggest songs aren't songs of him rapping. Drake doesn't even have a pure rapping album lol. While with Kendrick, pretty much all his biggest songs are him straight rapping. That's what I mean when I say Kendrick is the biggest "pure" rapper

It's actually interesting how most rappers that have some sort of a commercial peak their biggest songs are on average rap-heavy or at least has someone else handling hook/melodic duties

Not necessarily, but rap songs that are hits that are not clearly designed for mass appeal or the lowest common denominator
The closest one he has is probably Headlines, and come to think of it it’s probably a genuine example, but besides that all of his biggest songs are pop songs
