If I didn't keep up with the charts and someone told me that, I'd say they were lying because those songs had zero impact on my actual life. It's like they never happened. Lose Control by Teddy Swims is well on its way to becoming the biggest Hot 100 hit of all time and I still haven't heard that song even once. This decade is just different in terms of the impact of dominant songs on the charts in real life.

Most of the biggest 2000s/2010s hits all had real-life impact and you could see why they were the #1 songs in the country. Today, the #1 for 10+ weeks will be a song 95% of the country genuinely has no idea about (even with extensive radio airplay).
