    Literally

When was the last time Drake had a solo hit with actual legs??? Scorpion??

The better question is when was the last time Drake had a MEGA hit? God's Plan in 2018 and One Dance in 2015. That’s nearly a decade ago.

Meanwhile Kendrick dropped his God's Plan (NLU) and his One Dance (Luther) BUT BIGGER (pause) within 6 months.

NGL I kinda don't remember that song being as big as it was

That's also probably one of the few singles he's pushed this decade that actually felt like a ready-made "hit" lol

Same. Only listened to it once and it was Covid, so I didn’t hear the song outside either.

The reason why NOKIA went viral wasn't because of Drake too btw

Yeah, 2018 was definitely the last like MEGA Drake era like that.

Also, I always viewed Kendrick as someone who definitely could just make hits if he wanted to put artistically took a detour with Mr. Morale and the break he took. That's why I never liked that narrative about Kendrick as if he couldn't do that kinda stuff NOR hasn't done it to much success in the past.

I figured that as well but it’s cool to get some clarity

Wonder how long he keeps his foot on the gas

Nokia stood out to me on initial reaction of $$$4U because of how different it was, but it kinda underwhelmed me shortly after.

So when I kinda realized that the best parts of that song really had nothing to do with Drake, it kinda made sense as to the reason I thought that.

And I say this as someone who typically loves Drake in that more poppier and playful area. Still a decent song, but in comparison to his other attempts at stuff like that it really doesn't hold a candle IMO.

And this is why Kendrick is in a completely different league than Drake.

Drake could never release an album like TPAB or MM, while Kendrick can easily drop a project full of bangers if he wants to.

Even now when ppl compare Drake and Kendrick the discussion always centers around streams, charts, and numbers (and Kendrick is whooping him there too now).

Quality wise there’s no contest. Drake doesn’t even come close. Comparing these two is like comparing Kendrick and Lil Pump. Sht a joke.

Comparing Drake to Lil Pump is crazy but I agree with the core message lol

I always felt Kendrick was the better artist. Kendrick to me was always the better rapper and made the better albums.

I believe Drake is one of the best to do it but a lot of the arguments around him being better than Kendrick had to do with his versatility and as time goes on we’re seeing a big reason behind that versatility was having ghostwriters

There’s not many artists that can make me feel like I did the first few times I listened to TPAB and MM. That’s always held a lot more value to me than making hits, which do hold value as well.

would love to hear your opinion on Mr. Morale, feel free to DM me or @ me in a Kendrick thread if you ever feel like sharing that album is 1B for me next to another personal favorite
